As leaders in landscape architecture, Floura Teeter’s staff are often invited and selected to share their expertise at a variety of conferences and industry events to national, local, regional, and academic audiences. In June 2018 you can find our staff sharing their knowledge and expertise at the Association for Community Design (ACD) Conference, ACD41 Reverberations: the Roots and Relevance of Community Design. Floura Teeter has been selected for two events during the conference running from June 8-9, 2018.
Join this panel discussion with Zolna Russell, Ron Wilson, Magda Westerhout, and Steve Preston, moderated by Lydia Kimball. This panel will be focused on the new Metro Heights apartments and the Parks & People foundation headquarters in the Greater Mondawmin neighborhood. Their key location, adjacent to the Mondawmin Mall (a Rouse Co. pioneer urban center), a major transit hub, Druid Hill Park and the Maryland Zoo has been a struggling but stable community roiled by civil unrest in 2015. This session will engage participants in meaningful discussion about the success factors that will impact this neighborhood’s future.
Join Zolna Russell and Evan Morville of Seawall Development on a walking tour of the Remington neighborhood including the renovated Tire Shop (now Parts & Labor and Single Carrot Theater) and associated community plaza, Remington Row, and R. House. These projects demonstrate Seawall’s commitment to promoting a walkable and bike-friendly community and how the team’s attention to detail has resulted in making Remington a great place to live, work and play. The redevelopment of this working class neighborhood demonstrates how including the community can result in the successful creation of spaces and amenities that serve both the neighborhood and the City as a whole. The investment in the community has made Remington a destination for City residents and visitors alike.
We hope to see you at the ACD Conference this June!
