As leaders in landscape architecture, Floura Teeter’s staff are often invited and selected to share their expertise at a variety of conferences and industry events to national, local, regional, and academic audiences. Throughout March 2016 you can find our staff out and about sharing their knowledge and experience at the following events:
WVU Landscape Architecture Studio Professional Practice Lecture Series: Steven Allison, PLA, LEED Green Associate, returns to his alma mater to cover the topic of environmental mitigation and the landscape architect’s role in reducing pollution runoff from entering our streams and bays for West Virginia University’s landscape architecture studio.
Penn State Stuckeman School Career Day Recent Alumni Panel: Zach Baier, LEED Green Associate, graduated from the Landscape Architecture program at Penn State’s Stuckeman School in 2012. He will return to his alma mater for the 30th annual career day to share his experience in professional practice as part of the Recent Alumni Panel. Ben Mayer, a 2015 grad, will also be in attendance representing Floura Teeter.
Aging in America, Food in the Landscape: Environments for Senior Living: Lydia Kimball, PLA, LEED AP BD+C, will be joined by Registered Dietician, Robin Spence, to discuss how engaging outdoor environments can directly benefit older adults’ nutritional, physical, and social well being.
USGBC Maryland/Baltimore EcoWomen Women in Green Networking Breakfast: Joan Floura, PLA, LEED AP, will be part of the panel discussing the green building and sustainability movement. Additionally, this special event will be held at Floura Teeter’s office in Mount Vernon. This is the perfect time to get a tour and a sneak peek at our operations.
Green Schools Conference & Expo, STEM Among the Leaves: Zolna Russell, PLA, LEED AP BD+C, will be joined by Meliora’s Michele Adams, Nette Compton from the Trust for Public Land, and Viridian Landscape Studio’s Tavis Dockwillwe to discuss teaching environmental literacy and STEM using the schoolyard and campus as an outdoor laboratory. The presentation will include case studies and videos of successful outdoor learning programs and spaces.
If you are in the area or at any of these events, we would love to see you there.
