Floura Teeter was the landscape architect for this new community in Evensham Township, NJ that includes both independent and assisted living units. Consistent with The Shelter Group’s objective to offer the same level of amenities in outdoor spaces as those available inside the facility, the landscape design transitions seamlessly with the architecture.
The landscape design incorporates planted terraces within a multi-level courtyard, fire pit, seating area, walking path, trellis-shaded patio, and entry fountain. Understanding the needs of residents with a range of abilites, the design includes accessible garden planters, sheltered seating, and a variety of places that offer both physical and visual stimulation in an engaging, comfortable environment. A garden specifically designed for dementia-care residents encourages these special users to enjoy the outdoors safely and to their full potential.
The calming, restorative effect of the garden environment benefits residents, staff and families.
