Floura Teeter was selected by Community Mediation Program (CMP) to design a mediation garden in front of their Greenmount building that would bring peace and comfort to the people in the community.
Community Mediation Program is a non-profit organization that strives to reduce interpersonal conflict and community violence and animosity by increasing the use of non-violent conflict resolution strategies and making mediation more accessible. CMP provides free mediation and teaches conflict resolution skills for neighborhoods, families, schools, businesses, and all across Baltimore.
Floura Teeter, working closely with CMP, sought to create a place of reflection. There is a large circular area surrounded by flowering shrubs, perennials, and grasses. A stone seatwall provides an area where people can sit and reflect under a semicircular trellis. Donor information is engraved on the brick pavers at the entryway.
The mediation garden is possible through funding from TKF and the façade improvements to the Community Mediation Program was featured in HGTV’s “Change the World — Start at Home” community revitalization program.
