Floura Teeter was the landscape architect for the SMC Campus Center in Downtown Baltimore. Part of the University of Maryland, the UMB campus is home to the Professional programs of the University of Maryland system.
The project includes a new multi-story campus center connecting the School of Nursing and the Health Sciences & Human Services Library on Lombard Street. Floura Teeter created an entry plaza for the Center and a connection to the School of Nursing Garden. The plaza design includes a series of steps and planters between the plaza and the existing sidewalk along the street, creating a generous outdoor area for casual study, dining, and conversation. On the west side of the building a lower terrace with a grid of Okame Cherry trees creates a welcoming arrival platform for the existing School of Nursing Garden.
