Working with the project’s civil engineers, Floura Teeter completed the design to convert an existing turnaround loop located in the heart of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) campus into a gathering space for students. The new plaza is adjacent to six of the university’s smaller residential buildings and serves the residents of those buildings, providing a place to picnic, socialize, study or just relax.
Scope of work included hardscape design, site walls, site lighting, plantings, and other enhancements such as walkway realignment, road resurfacing, and ADA compliance. Floura Teeter was also responsible for site furnishings which include chairs, benches, and barbecue grills. A new dumpster area was also created for the residential area.
Floura Teeter also prepared planting plans for the residential buildings surrounding the turnaround loop which were renovated as part of this project.
