I inhale tranquility from the surrounding land, whether hiking in the wilderness, gathering in a plaza, commuting to work, or relaxing in a yard. I believe people deserve desirable and useful places that connects them to our world and the variety of agents we share it with, feeling honored to be someone who facilitates such connection.
Mary found landscape architecture after an early and rewarding career in kitchens and on farms. Spending 15 years in New Mexico, Mary cooked for members of the Federal Executive branch, harvested apricots and tomatoes, attended university, and, after school, worked at New Mexico’s preeminent architecture firm. Mary grew up on the mouth of the Patapsco and made the move home to center her practice in the woodlands and wetlands of the Chesapeake Bay. She has design experience across sectors, but loves to create spaces for urban agriculture, playgrounds and public art.
