Major improvements to the Aberdeen Amtrak/MARC Station are part of the wider Aberdeen Transit Oriented Development area. The final build-out for this ambitious intermodal hub will include station improvements, removal of a pedestrian bridge, improved safety features, and a pedestrian underpass.

In collaboration with EXP, Floura Teeter provided design improvements to the MARC station itself and the surrounding neighborhood. Project partners included the City of Aberdeen, MDOT SHA, and MDOT MTA.

Project Features

Enhancements offer users safe access to the station for Amtrak, MARC, and bus service. Features included new bus shelters, custom seating with accent lighting, pedestrian-scaled light poles, sidewalk crossings, street trees, large seasonal planters, and specialty paving. Accessibility and safety were key components of the landscape design.

Future murals on the existing bridge piers will celebrate local art and culture.
