The Tacony neighborhood in North Philadelphia is home to an existing recreation center and park managed by Philadelphia Parks and Recreation (PPR). The 15-acre park features 7 ballfields, basketball courts, a playground, tennis courts, a pool, and a splash pad. The site also includes a highly active community recreation center.
The scope of the project includes assessing the current condition of the park’s features. Floura Teeter has conducted an inventory and prioritized elements of the park that are most in need of replacement or renovation. The design includes a renovated splash pad, a new playground with updated surfacing, ADA-compliant access and pedestrian pathways, renovated courts, community gardens, and new fencing. Floura Teeter will also provide complete construction documents for the park’s improvements.
The project emphasizes strong public engagement to build community trust and gather input on preferences for play equipment, color schemes, seating options, and fitness amenities. Floura Teeter has actively participated in the public meetings throughout the process.
