Rye Street Residential (Block E6) is a mixed-use building located in the transformative neighborhood of Port Covington in Baltimore City. It is one of the first buildings to break ground in the development and is home to over 250 units, several retail bays, and unique amenity spaces both indoor and out. The building is located on one of the most prominent streets in the neighborhood and has high visibility in the neighborhood and in the city.
Floura Teeter worked closely with the entire design team to ensure a successful project. The scope of Floura Teeter’s work included a private streetscape design, an amenity deck on the third floor, and a rooftop amenity deck. The private streetscape, or mews, incorporates a bosque of mature honey locust trees that pedestrians and vehicles both travel through. The mews incorporate traffic calming measures such as bollards, curbless streets, and large planters that provide a solid yet soft buffer between the pedestrian zone and vehicular lanes. The amenity decks include concrete drink rails and welcoming lounge furnishings. The rooftop deck showcases an outdoor kitchen with communal seating as well as a large drink rail with tables on rails. This amenity deck also has beautiful waterfront views as well as views to the signature Sagamore water tower across the street.
