Located near the eastern limits of Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood, the SouthSide Works mixed use development underwent a major redevelopment including new multi-family housing, mixed re-use of an existing movie theatre, and a refresh to the development’s public parks and plazas. Floura Teeter provided landscape architecture for a redesign of the existing Town Center plaza under guidance of the public space design architect.

The existing plaza held a central space and served primarily as passive use for visitors to the development. The re-design activates the space with fresh and exciting public/retail amenities including shipping container re-use inspired kiosks serving food and beverage and a new space for an existing tenant – Tour Pittsburgh. An event lawn for yard games, various seating options and a stage to host live entertainment complement the kiosk offerings and seeks to provide a lively atmosphere year-round.
Floura Teeter provided design and constructability input to the architect’s concept and provided full construction documentation and construction administration services to see the project through completion.
