Metro Heights at Mondawmin

Metro Heights is a 70-unit mixed income rental community and will be significant in providing both affordable and market-rate housing for a wide variety of residents. It occupies a prominent urban corner in the Greater Mondawmin neighborhood of Baltimore City, adjacent to a major transit hub and Historic Druid Hill Park. Located on a high point, the four-story building has distant, but commanding views of downtown Baltimore.

Within the confines of a limited site, Floura Teeter developed an entrance terrace which is surrounded by garden planting. The elevation of the building entrance allowed the terrace to be physically separate from, but visually connected to, the public streetscape and adjacent intersection. It incorporates accent paving and low seat walls. Working with the owner and a local artist, Floura Teeter coordinated the design and implementation of an art piece that celebrates the diverse Mondawmin community, which will be incorporated into the public sidewalk.

The landscape plan also includes an accessible secondary entrance for residents, screening for the service area, and streetscape planting for both roadways.
