Parks & People Foundation Campus Master Plan

Founded in 1984, the Parks & People Foundation has helped revitalize neighborhoods through hands-on partnerships to sustain green spaces and provide environmental learning opportunities for children. The 9-acre campus was originally part of Baltimore’s historic Druid Hill Park but is now surrounded by busy urban roadways.

Working closely with Foundation staff, Floura Teeter created a master plan to meet the needs of current programming while anticipating future expansion. The design team conducted a vigorous public engagement process resulting in three goals: Welcome, Connection, and Inspiration.

The plan includes a number of distinct spaces, each with a unique identity reflecting the character of each part of the site. These include the Oak Knoll, the Meadow, Pollinator’s Paradise, Druid’s Slope, the Exploration Garden, the Green, and Steward Ship. The master plan establishes aesthetic standards for the campus, creates three major gateways and makes recommendations for art installations throughout the campus.
