The Purple Line is a new 16-mile light rail line through Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties with 21 stations and connections to the DC Metrorail, MARC commuter rail, Amtrak, and local bus lines.
In coordination with the project’s architects and engineers Floura Teeter provided landscape architectural services for the stations, streetscape materials, site furnishings, and transit amenities for the entire corridor. Services also include planting for stream restoration, stormwater management and bioretention facilities, wetlands and reforestation planting requirements. We worked closely with the design team and arborists to save and protect existing trees along the corridor.
The Purple Line has a robust Art-in-Transit program designed to celebrate community identity, history and culture and will make each station unique to the adjacent neighborhoods. Floura Teeter served as Art-in-Transit Managers for PLTC.
The Purple Line is currently under construction.
